Bernice is a small north Louisiana town of about 1,400 people, located 20 miles west of Monroe via Highway 2. It sits in the piney hills near Lake D'Arbonne State Park, making it popular with outdoor enthusiasts. The town connects to I-20 through Ruston (25 miles west) and serves as a gateway to some of Louisiana's last old-growth longleaf pine forests in the nearby Kisatchie National Forest.
