Bergen is a tiny farming community about 30 miles northwest of Minot in north-central North Dakota. Take US Highway 83 north from Minot, then turn west on county roads through wheat country. From Bismarck, it's a straight 110-mile drive north on US 83. The continental climate brings harsh winters and warm summers across the surrounding prairie. Bergen claims the unusual distinction of being one of America's smallest incorporated places, with just one official resident.
