Benton serves as Marshall County's seat in western Kentucky's lake region, about 25 miles from Paducah and 15 miles from Kentucky Lake. Most visitors arrive via US 68, which connects to I-69 westbound, or US 641 from the north. The town sits amid rolling hills dotted with tobacco farms and lake access points. The 1903 courthouse with its working clock tower still marks time in the downtown square.
