Bena is a tiny lakeside community in northern Minnesota's Cass County, home to just 79 people along Lake Winnibigoshish. Highway 2 provides the main access, about 45 miles west of Grand Rapids or 35 miles east of Bemidji through Chippewa National Forest country. The town sits right on the dam that controls Minnesota's fourth-largest lake, making it a unique spot where you can watch massive Winnibigoshish's water levels being managed.
