Belpre sits on the Ohio River across from Parkersburg, West Virginia, connected by several bridges including the main Route 50 crossing. Most visitors arrive via State Route 7 along the river or Route 50 from Interstate 77. The city serves as a gateway between Ohio and West Virginia, with Mid Ohio Valley Regional Airport about 10 miles northeast. The historic Belpre Cemetery contains graves from the original 1789 Ohio Company settlement.
