Belmond is a small farming town in north-central Iowa, sitting at the intersection of US Highway 69 and Iowa Highway 3. Most visitors arrive via Highway 69 from Fort Dodge (30 miles south) or Mason City to the north. The town serves surrounding agricultural communities with local traffic flowing along these main highways. For longer trips, drivers head south to Fort Dodge to connect with major east-west routes. Belmond's restored 1913 Carnegie Library, now housing the Wright County Historical Society, remains one of the few original Carnegie libraries still standing in this part of Iowa.
