Bellevue lies along US Route 20 in north-central Ohio, about 45 miles west of Cleveland and 60 miles southeast of Toledo. The city sits where Route 20 intersects State Route 4, which connects north to Sandusky and Lake Erie. Most visitors arrive via these highways or State Route 269 from nearby communities. The town of 8,200 grew around the railroad, and Norfolk Southern trains still roll through the active rail yard downtown, their horns marking time throughout the day.
