Bellefonte is a tiny Ozark mountain community of 428 people in north-central Arkansas, reached primarily via scenic Highway 7 from Harrison, about 15 miles south. The area offers access to crystal-clear spring-fed streams where locals still practice the traditional Ozark method of gigging for redhorse suckers using three-pronged spears and lanterns.
