Beacon is a farming community of 425 people in south-central Iowa, about 10 miles west of Oskaloosa on Highway 92. Most visitors arrive via Highway 163 from Des Moines through Pella, or take Interstate 35 to local highways. The town's 1952 grain elevator still towers over Main Street, serving local farmers during harvest.
