Bayview is a small Gulf Coast community in Cameron County, about 25 miles northeast of Brownsville. Take Highway 48 east from US 77 near San Benito to reach this town of under 900 residents. Most visitors use US 77 as their main route, connecting to Harlingen (20 miles), McAllen, or Brownsville. The area sits on flat coastal prairie with a subtropical climate. Bayview serves as a gateway to the renowned Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge.
