Bayfield is a small farming town in southwestern Colorado, 20 miles east of Durango on US 160. It sits at 6,900 feet where high desert meets pine forest in the Animas River Valley. Most visitors arrive via US 160 from Durango or Pagosa Springs, with the regional airport 15 miles west. The town is famous for its sweet corn harvest stands that line the highways each September.
