Baxter is a small Iowa farming town of about 1,200 people located 25 miles northeast of Des Moines via Highway 117. Take I-80 Exit 155 north for an easy 30-minute drive through corn country. The town hosts the annual Hobo Days festival each September, celebrating its railroad heritage with a Main Street parade and festivities.
