Batesville, a small city of about 7,400 people, sits 45 miles southeast of Memphis in north-central Mississippi. Interstate 55 runs 15 miles west, while US Highway 51 and State Route 6 provide more direct access through town. Most out-of-town visitors drive from Memphis International Airport, about an hour northwest. The city operates one of Mississippi's few municipal airports with a paved runway for private aircraft.
