Baskin is a tiny community of about 150 people in northeastern Louisiana's Franklin Parish, situated along US Highway 65 about 45 minutes north of Monroe. The town sits in rolling hill country where forests meet farmland, connected by Highway 17 running east-west and accessible from I-20 about 30 miles south. Baskin's defining characteristic is its position along the winding Bayou Macon, which cuts through the surrounding Louisiana wilderness.
