Basile is a small farming town in southwestern Louisiana's Evangeline Parish, surrounded by rice fields and prairie. Highway 13 runs right through the center, connecting north to Ville Platte and south toward Lake Charles. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 10, exiting at Crowley and driving north about 25 miles on Highway 13. The town hosts an annual Swine Festival each October featuring boudin contests and Cajun music right along the main highway.
