Barton is a small mountain community in western Maryland's Allegany County, home to about 660 people along the North Branch Potomac River. Reach it via US Route 40 west from Cumberland (15 miles) or I-68 to the Frostburg exit. The town sits on the historic Western Maryland Railway corridor, now part of the Great Allegheny Passage rail-trail connecting Pittsburgh to Cumberland.
