Bardwell is a small Texas town of about 1,000 people located 30 miles south of Dallas on US Highway 287. The main route from Dallas takes about 45 minutes via US 287 to Interstate 35E. State Highway 34 connects from the east through Ennis. The town sits in rolling prairie country with scattered oak trees and small lakes. Bardwell preserves one of Ellis County's few original Santa Fe Railway depots from the early 1900s railroad era.
