Barbourmeade is a small Jefferson County city about 20 minutes northeast of Louisville via I-71 Exit 9. The community of 1,200 residents sits along the Ohio River corridor between two airports - Muhammad Ali International (15 miles) and Bowman Field (8 miles). It's one of Kentucky's few cities using a council-manager government structure with a professional administrator instead of a mayor.
