Bangor Base is a small waterfront community on Washington's Kitsap Peninsula, home to about 6,100 people and the Navy's major submarine base. Most visitors drive SR-3 north from Bremerton or take the Seattle ferry route. The base houses Trident submarines in massive concrete bunkers carved into the forested hillsides.
