Bancroft is a farming community of 16 people in eastern South Dakota's Kingsbury County. Take US Highway 14 east from Huron (25 miles) or west from De Smet to reach this prairie town surrounded by corn and soybean fields. The area experiences typical continental climate with hot summers, cold winters, and strong prairie winds. Despite its small size, Bancroft still operates its own post office serving the surrounding farm families.
