Balfour is a tiny North Dakota community of three people in McHenry County, about 30 miles northeast of Minot via US 83 and County Road 14. This remote prairie settlement sits in classic northern plains farm country with harsh winters and warm summers. Most visitors arrive from Minot, the nearest city with services, while long-distance travelers typically come up US 83 from Bismarck. The town was optimistically named after British statesman Arthur Balfour by early railroad developers.
