Bairoil is a small oil town in south-central Wyoming's high desert, accessible via Highway 789 from Rawlins (45 miles southeast) or Rock Springs (60 miles southwest). Most visitors arrive from Interstate 80 through Rawlins. The community developed around 1950s petroleum operations and sits at 6,500 feet elevation in sagebrush country. It operates Wyoming's smallest post office, serving the tight-knit community of oil workers and ranchers.
