Baconton is a farming community of 790 people in southwest Georgia, about 35 miles south of Albany via US Highway 19. State Route 37 runs east-west through town toward Pelham. Most visitors arrive from Interstate 75 via Tifton and US 82, or directly down US 19 from Albany. The town sits near the headwaters of Muckalee Creek in pecan grove country.
