Avon is a small central Minnesota city of about 1,500 people, located 70 miles northwest of Minneapolis along Highway 23. Most visitors arrive via I-94 west to Highway 23, which runs east-west through town connecting St. Cloud and Paynesville. The area features rolling farmland, scattered lakes, and typical continental climate conditions. Saint John's University anchors the community, famous for its striking modern abbey church with a concrete bell tower designed by Marcel Breuer.
