Avon is a small farming town of about 700 people in western Illinois, sitting along the Spoon River valley. US Route 136 runs east-west through town, connecting to Macomb 12 miles east and continuing toward Iowa. State Route 41 provides the north-south link to Galesburg. The town features a restored 1890s railroad depot that now serves as a community center.
