Austin is a small borough in Potter County's forested hills, reached via Route 872 from Route 6. The town sits where Freeman Run meets Sinnemahoning Creek, surrounded by state forest lands. Most visitors arrive from Route 6 connections at Galeton or work up from Interstate 80 through Emporium. The Austin Dam Memorial Park marks the site of Pennsylvania's deadliest dam failure in 1911.
