Aurora is a small Missouri city of about 7,400 people, located 30 miles southwest of Springfield via Highway 39. It sits in the wooded Ozark hills near the Arkansas border, accessible from Interstate 44 through Springfield or via Highway 60. The city serves as Lawrence County's seat and features Missouri's oldest continuously operating courthouse, built in 1859.
