Atlantic Beach is a tiny oceanfront community on South Carolina's Grand Strand, just north of Myrtle Beach via Highway 17. With only 240 residents packed into less than a square mile, it's historically significant as "The Black Pearl" - one of the few beaches where African Americans could vacation during segregation. The drive from Myrtle Beach International Airport takes about 20 minutes.
