Atka is a remote Alaskan village of 15 people on Atka Island in the Aleutian Chain, about 1,100 miles southwest of Anchorage. There are no roads - access is only by small plane through Atka Airport, with flights from Anchorage routing through other Aleutian stops. The community centers around subsistence living and features a 1918 Russian Orthodox church, one of the oldest continuously operating Orthodox churches in the Aleutians.
