Ashton is a tiny farming town in north-central South Dakota, about 20 miles northwest of Redfield via county roads and State Highway 37. Most visitors come from Aberdeen, 40 miles northeast, taking US Highway 12 west to Highway 37 south. The grain elevator's concrete silos are visible for miles across the surrounding wheat and corn fields.
