Ashton is a small farming town in southeastern Idaho that serves as a gateway to Yellowstone and the Tetons. Highway 20 runs right through town, connecting Idaho Falls (45 miles) with West Yellowstone (35 miles), making it a popular stop for park visitors. The town sits surrounded by potato fields with mountain views, and hosts the American Dog Derby each February—one of the oldest continuous sled dog races in the lower 48 states.
