Ashkum is a small farming town of about 900 people in eastern Illinois, sitting right on US Route 45 about 90 miles south of Chicago. Most visitors arrive via US 45 from Kankakee to the north or connect from I-57 about 15 miles west. The town's historic grain elevator towers over the flat prairie landscape, visible for miles across the surrounding cornfields.
