Arvin is a farming town in California's Central Valley, about 20 miles southeast of Bakersfield on Highway 223. Most visitors drive from Interstate 5 or Bakersfield via Highway 58. The area grows citrus and grapes in the hot, dry climate typical of the southern San Joaquin Valley. Bakersfield International Airport is 25 miles away. Arvin calls itself the "City of Roses" and celebrates its flower-growing heritage with an annual festival each May.
