Ariton is a small Dale County farming town reached via State Route 123, about 15 miles from Ozark and 25 miles from Dothan. The area's rolling farmland grows cotton and peanuts under Alabama's humid subtropical climate. Ariton still operates one of the state's few remaining cotton gins, preserving the agricultural heritage that defines this corner of the Wiregrass region.
