Aquilla is a tiny Hill County community of about 80 people, located 20 miles northeast of Waco via Highway 22 and FM 933. From Dallas-Fort Worth, take I-35 south to Hillsboro, then Highway 22 west for about 15 miles. The town sits in rolling countryside along the Brazos River valley, where eastern woodlands meet western prairies. It's named after nearby Aquilla Creek, a reliable water source that attracted early settlers.
