Applewold is a small Armstrong County community of 385 people in western Pennsylvania's hill country. It's about 40 miles northeast of Pittsburgh via Route 28, the main access road, with Interstate 80 about 25 miles north for long-distance travelers. The town gets its name from historic apple orchards, and you can still spot old heritage apple trees along the winding township roads.
