Appleton City is a farming community of about 1,200 people in west-central Missouri, 90 miles southeast of Kansas City via I-49 south to Highway 52 east. The town sits along Highway 52, the main route connecting to county roads serving the surrounding agricultural area. The restored 1898 Katy Railroad depot now houses a local museum.
