Apple Valley is a high desert community of 75,000 in San Bernardino County, about 90 miles from LA via I-15 and Highway 18. The planned city sits at 3,000 feet with hot, dry summers and mild winters. Major routes include Highway 18 through town and nearby I-15 for longer trips to Los Angeles or Las Vegas. The city was named for apple orchards that thrived here in the 1940s when Roy Rogers and Dale Evans owned a local ranch.
