Apollo sits 30 miles northeast of Pittsburgh along the Kiskiminetas River in Armstrong County's rolling hills. Take Route 22 east from Pittsburgh, then north on Route 66 for a 45-minute drive through typical Allegheny foothill terrain. The town developed around the old Pennsylvania Canal and railroad, leaving a compact downtown. Apollo's historic Main Street still features the 1920s Apollo Theatre with its original marquee.
