Apache Junction sits 40 miles east of Phoenix at the base of the Superstition Mountains. Take US 60 east through Mesa for the main route, or connect via I-10 from Tucson. The city marks the start of the famous Apache Trail (State Route 88), Arizona's first scenic highway built in 1906 to reach Roosevelt Dam construction.
