Ansonia is a small Connecticut city in the Naugatuck Valley, about 15 miles northwest of New Haven along Route 8. This former industrial town sits where the highway connects Waterbury to the north with Bridgeport to the south, making it a natural stopping point for valley commuters. The surrounding hills funnel traffic through this corridor, and the restored 1870s Ansonia Opera House still hosts live theater performances.
