Anson is a small agricultural town in West Central Texas, about 20 miles north of Abilene on US Highway 83. This Jones County seat of 2,500 sits amid cotton fields and cattle ranches in classic West Texas rolling plains country. Most visitors drive up from Abilene or arrive via Interstate 20 from Dallas-Fort Worth. The 1910 sandstone courthouse with its prominent clock tower dominates the town square and can be spotted from miles across the prairie.
