Annona is a small town of about 300 people in northeastern Texas, sitting on US 271 between Paris (20 miles north) and Mount Pleasant (15 miles south). It's in the Piney Woods region where forests meet farmland. From Dallas, take US 380 east through Greenville, then US 69 north to Commerce, and US 271 north. The town got its name from the pawpaw fruit, which early settlers called "annona."
