Anderson is about 40 miles northeast of Indianapolis via Interstate 69, making it an easy day trip from the capital. The city was once a major manufacturing hub and now centers around Anderson University. Most visitors take I-69 from Indy or US-36 for the cross-state route. The restored 1929 Paramount Theatre downtown still shows movies and hosts concerts in its original ornate setting.
