Anamoose is a farming town of 309 people in north-central North Dakota, about 60 miles northwest of Minot via US Highway 52. The highway connects it to Minot in the southeast and the Canadian border near Portal to the northwest. Most visitors come from Minot, driving through wheat country and small prairie towns. The town's name comes from a Chippewa word meaning "female dog," and it hosts an annual rodeo that draws regional crowds each summer.
