Anaconda sits in Montana's Deer Lodge Valley, about 25 miles off I-90 via Highway 1. Most visitors come from Missoula (one hour) or Butte (30 minutes) on this route. The town was built around copper smelting and sits at 5,300 feet elevation with snowy winters. The restored Washoe Theater downtown showcases stunning 1930s art deco murals covering the walls and ceiling.
