Amsterdam is a tiny farming town in west-central Missouri, about 60 miles south of Kansas City via I-49 and Highway 71. The community of 128 sits among rolling farmland in Bates County, accessible by county roads off the main north-south corridors. Butler Memorial Airport serves the area from about 15 miles northeast. The town's restored 1920s grain elevator still operates during harvest season.
