Amidon is a tiny community of six people serving as Slope County's seat in southwestern North Dakota's badlands. Located 30 miles south of Dickinson on Highway 22, it's one of America's smallest county seats. The 1917 courthouse remains from its days as a railroad town, now surrounded by cattle ranching country where prairie meets dramatic buttes and coulees.
