Ames is a tiny farming town of 220 people in north-central Oklahoma's wheat country. Located on State Highway 8, it's about 25 miles northwest of Enid and 30 miles east of Woodward. The classic Great Plains landscape features rolling wheat fields and scattered oil wells under big skies. The town's working grain elevator remains a prominent landmark visible across the flat prairie.
