Alva is a college town in north-central Oklahoma, home to Northwestern Oklahoma State University. It's about 150 miles northwest of Oklahoma City via US-412 and US-281, or 120 miles from Wichita through wheat country. The town sits at the intersection of major north-south and east-west routes, with US-281 running to Kansas and US-412 connecting to Enid. The Graceful Arts Center hosts an annual Shakespeare festival that draws visitors from across the region.
